Street Fights Caught On Tape

Street fights caught on tape may have spawned from attempted street crimes, personal disagreements, harassment, bullying, intoxication, drug abuse or mental health problems. They can also be instigated by various gangs that want to control neighborhoods or to show their gangs superiority or authority. Or they can be used as tactics by religious, political or other groups to gain political power within the country, many of these have been caught on tape and shown on the news.

Depending on the motivations and circumstances of street fighters, street fighting can be spontaneous and random, deliberately started by a few hooligans or carefully planned ahead by a group of relatively organized people. Drunken brawls.
A very common cause of many street fights caught on tape is intoxication caused by alcohol and other types of substances which lower peoples judgment way below their normal level and lead to name calling and acts of violence. A street fight between two drunk individuals can without warning spread to a major brawl among a group of people, sober or drunk. Many nightclubs and disco’s have employees called bouncers whose only job is to manage violent people, they have also installed video cameras that can catch perpetrators on tape.

Conflicts can rise from competition between different social groups or discrimination and persecution against other social groups. Common differences that gives rise to internal group conflicts are subculture, ethniticity, religion, nationality or social status. Street fights between people of such groups can lead to spontaneous riots, or members of one of the groups may instigate street fights to punish or harass members of the other groups or to fight for their grups territory. These attacks can lead to all out street fights among attackers, defenders and the victims, many of these have been caught by security cameras. Under certain legal systems, violence motivated by such prejudice can get more seriouslegal treatment as they are hate crimes. Prejudice against other ethnic groups expressed in street fighting can lead even more violent and organized violence such as genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Examples of historical street fights caught on tape that turned into riots include the ethnically motivated Rodney King riots and many other riots ans acts of hooliganism in which gender and sexual orientation were the cause of conflict. These events usually draw a huge amount of attention from the news channels.
